Postpartum Glow-Up
When I was pregnant with our daughter I reached my heaviest weight of 250 pounds. Which truly didn’t feel like that much because I was a pregnant woman. Although once I gave birth it was like my weight was truly on me. At the time I joked about feeling like a beached whale a few hours after delivering our daughter.
I truly wasn’t worried about weight loss at first. Many ms had told me the weight will slip away with breast feeding. I breast feed for four months and my weight didn’t really “slip away” like the moms were saying it would. When in reality I had gotten quite used to eating as I did when I was pregnant. Which provided me with energy to produce milk, but also kept my weight on.
At the end of my breast feeding journey I was weighing in at 236.7 pounds. Which is less than baby and I, but as I said it didn’t “slip away”. I told my fiancé I wanted to start working out. If you’ve been following me since last August you might remember the soft 75 I did to jump start some healthy habits.
Those healthy habits definitely stuck around. I truly enjoy having a more active life style. Within a year I lost a total of 59 pounds. Which is truly testament that you can do it. There are two things you can truly not cheat in weight loss and that is time and consistency. I loss about 30% of my weight in a year, many of the popular GLP-1 advertise that you can loose 15-25 percent of your weight in a year. Which I personally beat, and am quite proud of!

Postpartum weight loss can be a challenging and emotional journey for many new mothers. Although breastfeeding is often touted as a natural way to shed pregnancy pounds, it's important to recognize that weight loss does not happen automatically for everyone. Factors such as increased caloric intake to support milk production and adjustments in lifestyle play critical roles in postpartum weight management. Achieving a significant weight loss goal, such as losing 59 pounds within a year, requires dedication, patience, and adopting consistent healthy habits. Incorporating manageable workout routines, like the Soft 75 workout mentioned in the original article, helps build stamina and promotes gradual fat loss without overwhelming new mothers recovering from childbirth. Consistency and time are essential; weight loss is not instantaneous but a steady process that benefits from a structured plan and regular physical activity. Many effective weight loss methods, including GLP-1 receptor agonists, report success rates of 15-25% of body weight in a year. However, sustainable lifestyle changes often yield better long-term results without medical interventions. Nutrition also plays a vital role. Balancing energy needs for breastfeeding with mindful eating helps prevent excess weight gain. Prioritizing nutrient-dense foods, maintaining hydration, and tracking consumption can support gradual weight reduction and overall well-being. Emotional support and realistic goal-setting are crucial for postpartum women embarking on weight loss. Celebrating progress, no matter how small, and focusing on feeling healthier and more energetic often outweigh the fixation on scale numbers alone. Ultimately, the postpartum glow-up is about more than just losing weight—it's about reclaiming health, confidence, and happiness through perseverance and self-care. This empowering journey is achievable with time, consistency, and a positive mindset, inspiring other mothers to embrace their own transformative paths.
