Despite Anxiety this week
✨ Despite Anxiety ✨
This week I did some things that really pushed me outside my comfort zone. At my conference, I signed up for breakout sessions where I didn’t have any of my “safe” people with me. It was scary at first, but I ended up having an amazing time. I learned so much, got new book and resource recommendations, and made connections that I know will help me in my future career. And guess what? The world didn’t stop. People didn’t laugh at me or make fun of me for being different.
I also shared one of my ideas during my student government club meeting—something that usually makes me so anxious. To my surprise, my club mates actually liked my idea! Being a little older than most of them, I often feel like the odd one out, so it was really validating to know that my contributions are valued.
Now I’m looking ahead to this week. On Thursday, I’ll be presenting a fundraiser idea to one of my clubs. I’m nervous, but I believe in the idea and already know some people who’d like to participate. Anxiety may still be there, but this week reminded me that it doesn’t have to stop me from showing up, learning, and contributing.
💛 Here’s to taking the next step, even when it feels scary.
