My Accutane Journey

I’ve decided to share my Accutane journey with you all ☺️ This is a vulnerable post for me, but I’m proud of where I am at now, and wanted to share that. I’ve struggled with acne since I was 13, and it has always been my biggest insecurity. I felt hideous, and wanted to just hide away more often than not. I had always hoped that as I grew older my skin would clear itself, but that was not the case, as it only became worse over time. It’s been extremely hard now as an adult to learn to accept myself and my appearance, and it’s hurt me deeply that I have never been able to do so yet.

Accutane has changed my life in a short matter of time. I have tried what feels like every skin care product out there. Washes, serums, moisturizers, acne targeting treatments, and nothing ever worked. I tried several different medications prior to Accutane that did not work well either. With Accutane, however, I have never been more satisfied with the results of something. It has worked wonders, and is helping my self esteem, and boost my confidence a little more each day. I’m so pleased with the progress I have made, and cannot wait to continue the journey and see the results at the very end!! #accutane #Acne #selfcare #embracevulnerability #LoveYourself #GirlsTalk

... Read moreMy journey to finally achieving clearer skin was a long and often disheartening one. Before committing to Accutane, I explored various options, including Doxycycline. Looking back at images from May 2023 and April 2024, my face showed persistent widespread acne, redness, and bumps, despite previous attempts at treatment. While Doxycycline offered temporary hope, it ultimately didn't provide the lasting solution I desperately needed. It was incredibly frustrating to see my skin in December 2020 at its worst, and then cycling through treatments only to face continuous breakouts. Starting Accutane felt like a significant step, and I was prepared for the initial challenges. In the first 10 days, I observed some redness and bumps, which is a common experience as the skin adjusts. By 20 days, I still had active breakouts and noticeable redness, a reminder that achieving clear skin is a gradual process that demands patience and consistency. This initial phase, often called the 'purge,' can be tough mentally, but knowing it's part of the process helped me push through. However, the real turning point began to emerge around the 1-month mark. The images from that period clearly showed improvement; fewer active breakouts were present, and while some redness persisted, the overall inflammation had significantly decreased. This progress, even subtle, was a massive boost to my spirits, confirming that Accutane was indeed making a difference after years of feeling stuck. Reaching the 63-day milestone on Accutane has been nothing short of transformative. My skin now appears significantly clearer, with minimal active breakouts and a remarkable reduction in redness. Comparing this to the 'before' images from April 2024, where my acne was severe, the change is truly profound. Beyond the visible improvements, this journey has been about regaining confidence and feeling genuinely comfortable in my own skin again. For anyone embarking on their own Accutane path, maintaining a gentle skincare routine is paramount. Think hydrating cleansers, thick moisturizers to combat dryness, and diligent sun protection, as your skin becomes more sensitive. It's also vital to communicate openly with your dermatologist about any side effects or concerns. This isn't just about clearing acne; it’s a holistic process of self-care and embracing vulnerability, and the visible results, like my clearer skin on June 26, 2024, make every challenge worthwhile. Remember, consistency and self-compassion are your best allies throughout this journey.

Let me just preface by saying accutane is not for the weak, but it does work. It’s one of the scariest medications I’ve taken hands down with all of the warnings and possible side effects. I’ve had acne my entire life and usually the pill controlled it pretty well, until my insurance quit covering

What Birth Control did to my skin!😭
• Before Birth Control😖: At the age of 15, I started to have very severe acne. Over 100+ pimples and pustules on my face at one time. I remember I would wake up everyday with 3-4 pimples on my face… and it was devastating. 😖 As I got older (I’m in my 30s now), my acne became less severe. But I
