Helpful studying tips for NCLEX

2025/1/20 Edited to

... Read morePassing the NCLEX felt like climbing Mount Everest, but I'm here to tell you it's absolutely achievable with the right strategy! When I was studying, I felt overwhelmed by all the information and resources out there. My goal here is to share a deeper dive into the study methods and tools that truly made a difference for me, especially since many of you are searching for those crucial 'NCLEX study tips.' One of my biggest game-changers was UWORLD! Seriously, if you're not using it, you're missing out. I treated UWORLD questions like mini-exams every single day. I aimed for anywhere from 75 to 150 questions daily, always in tutor mode so I could review explanations immediately. The most vital part wasn't just doing the questions, but the remediation. After each block, I'd meticulously go through every single question I got wrong, and even those I got right but guessed on. I'd write down the rationale, the key nursing principles, and why the other options were incorrect. This deep dive into understanding why rather than just what was the answer helped solidify concepts. I also briefly used Archer for additional practice questions closer to my exam date, finding its predictive assessments helpful for gauging readiness. Beyond practice questions, content review is essential. The Mark K study guide lectures were a lifesaver for high-yield content. I would listen to his audio lectures, sometimes even twice for certain topics like prioritization or delegation, and take detailed notes. His straightforward approach to complex topics really helped concepts click. For quick refreshers or visual learners, Simple Nursing and other 'High yield nursing' resources on YouTube were fantastic. I used them to reinforce areas where I felt weaker, watching short videos on specific diseases or pharmacology topics. My daily study routine was pretty consistent: I'd study a few hours each day, Monday through Friday, for several weeks. Weekends were for lighter review or catching up if needed, but I made sure to take at least one full day off to prevent burnout. Consistency is key, even if it's just 2-3 hours a day, active studying beats passive studying any time. Break up your study sessions with short walks or stretching. And speaking of taking a bunch of practice tests, don't just take them and move on! Use them as diagnostic tools. The most valuable learning happens after the test, during remediation. For every incorrect answer, ask yourself: Was it a content gap? Did I misinterpret the question? Was it a testing strategy error? This self-reflection is powerful. I also found that listening to podcasts during my commute or while doing chores helped keep nursing concepts fresh in my mind without feeling like formal study. There are many great NCLEX review podcasts out there that cover various topics in an engaging way. Finally, don't forget self-care! Maintaining a healthy sleep schedule, eating nutritious meals, and incorporating stress-reducing activities like meditation or exercise made a huge difference in my ability to focus and retain information. The NCLEX is a marathon, not a sprint. Trust your preparation, believe in yourself, and remember that every question you remediate brings you closer to success!

I gave myself 1 month to study for NCLEX
Defo one of the hardests exam I have ever taken. But worth it ✨ Officially licesed to practice not just in the Philippines and UK but also in the US.😍 #nclexrn #nclex #StudyTips #nursing #usrn
