When OMAD was a fast, my meals were smaller, and more controlled. That fit the season I was in… focused, prayerful, and intentional with restraint.

As a lifestyle, my meals are larger and my food choices are broader, but the OMAD structure is still there. I ate enough protein, included fats, enjoyed dessert, and moved on with my day without food lingering in my thoughts.

What stood out most today wasn’t the amount of food but how little mental energy food required. I didn’t feel like I needed to guard myself or negotiate with myself because I’d have to plan a second meal so I wasn’t stressed. I just ate until I was comfortably full and went on with my day.

OMAD as a Fast (average):

• Calories: ~1,300–1,700

• Protein: ~90–110 g

• Fat: ~60–80 g

• Carbs: ~40–60 g

OMAD as a Lifestyle (Day 8):

• Calories: ~2,460

• Protein: ~133 g

• Fat: ~131 g

• Carbs: ~100 g

This reflected in my macros: as a fast, my calories averaged between 1,300 to 1,700 with moderate protein and fat intake; as a lifestyle, these numbers increased, giving me 2,460 kcal with higher protein and fat, supporting my energy and wellbeing. The key was listening to my hunger cues while honoring the structure OMAD provides. Another enriching aspect was integrating this mindful eating journey with a biblical worldview. Instead of strict dieting rules, it centered on stewardship of my body, wisdom in choices, and personal boundaries aligned with spiritual values. The verse "All things are lawful for me, but not all things are beneficial" (1 Corinthians 10:23) became foundational, reminding me that freedom with food comes with responsibility. Additionally, incorporating monthly fasts to prayerfully maintain appetite control brought a beautiful rhythm to the journey, blending physical health and spiritual mindfulness.
