how I order sweet/creamy coffee during fat loss☕️🤍

I wanted to chat a bit about sugary iced lattes!!

I hear a lot of people say you “can’t” or “shouldn’t” drink your calories during a cut. I’m here to tell you that you should do what works for YOU.

the only thing that matters during fat loss is getting into a calorie deficit in a way that works with your lifestyle and preferences. there are so many tools to help you do that, but by far the best thing I’ve done is experiment and find what works for me. when I cut out sweet/creamy coffee at the start of my fat loss journey last year, I was miserable.

instead I’ve found ways to prioritize buying a coffee I love a few times a week. I make most of my coffees at home with some sneaky protein milk, and a little less added sugar! on days I buy a higher calorie coffee, I have to make some sacrifices later in the day so I can stay within my calorie goals. but for me, it’s totally worth it!

Let's dive into the 'coffee with milk and sugar calories' aspect. It's often the milk and added sweeteners that contribute the most. For instance, a regular latte made with whole milk and a few pumps of sugary syrup can easily hit 300-400 calories, sometimes even more! That's a significant chunk of your daily intake if you're aiming for a deficit. My personal strategy involves a few tricks. When I'm at home, I often reach for protein milk. It adds a wonderful creaminess and a protein boost without excessive calories, making my homemade drinks feel indulgent. I also experiment with natural sweeteners or simply use less of the added sugar. This way, I control the calorie count directly. For example, instead of a full scoop of sugar, I might use half, or opt for a drizzle of honey which, while still caloric, I find more satisfying in smaller amounts. When it comes to ordering out, understanding 'coffee with low fat milk' options is a game-changer. While skim milk is the lowest in fat, I personally find it can sometimes make my latte taste a bit watery and less satisfying. That's where alternatives like almond or coconut milk lattes come in. They offer a great texture and flavor profile, usually for fewer calories than whole or even 2% dairy milk. For example, an almond milk latte can often shave off 100-150 calories compared to its whole milk counterpart. Oat milk is another fantastic option if you prefer a richer, creamier texture without the high fat content, though it tends to have slightly more calories than almond milk. Don't be afraid to ask for sugar-free syrup options if your coffee shop offers them! Many places now have vanilla, caramel, or hazelnut sugar-free choices. If not, carrying stevia or monkfruit packets in your bag is a lifesaver – a quick stir and you've got sweetness without the extra calories. I've learned that making small adjustments can have a huge impact. Instead of four pumps of syrup, try two. Or ask for half regular, half sugar-free. If you love a rich drink, consider a smaller size. Even asking for “light ice” can sometimes mean more coffee and milk, if that’s what you prefer! It's all about prioritizing what truly makes you happy. For me, enjoying a delicious coffee a few times a week is totally worth making a lighter choice for a snack or meal later in the day. It's not about strict denial, but about conscious choices that fit into your overall calorie goals. Remember, consistency and enjoyment are key to sustainable fat loss. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't have your sweet coffee and reach your goals too! Experiment with different milks, sweeteners, and portion sizes to find your perfect balance. You truly can enjoy your sweet coffee and still achieve your fat loss objectives.
