📸 Why I Take Progress Pictures Every Week (Especially During Body Recomp)
One thing I wish I had understood sooner is that body recomposition is a completely different journey than weight loss.
When I was actively losing weight, the changes felt more obvious. The scale was moving, my clothes fit differently, and it was easy to feel like I was making progress.
Maintenance and body recomposition? That’s a different story.
The goal isn’t just to lose weight anymore—it’s to build muscle while slowly reducing body fat. Because of that, the changes are much more subtle, and sometimes it can feel like nothing is happening at all.
That’s exactly why I take progress pictures every single week.
Some weeks I don’t notice anything when I look in the mirror. Then I put two photos side by side, and suddenly I see:
✨ A little more shoulder definition.
✨ A slightly smaller waist.
✨ Stronger legs.
✨ Better posture.
✨ A body that’s changing in ways the scale could never show.
Those pictures become proof on the days when my mind tells me I’m not making progress.
If you’re in your body recomposition phase, don’t wait until you reach your goal to take photos.
Take them:
📸 On the days you feel confident.
📸 On the days you feel bloated.
📸 On the days you’re frustrated.
📸 On the days you think nothing has changed.
Because one day you’ll look back and realize your body has been transforming the entire time—you just couldn’t see it day to day.
I’ve been taking progress pictures every week, and I’m honestly surprised by how much can change from one week to the next.
Sometimes the progress you’re looking for isn’t obvious in the mirror… it’s hidden in the photos you almost didn’t take.
💜 Do you take progress pictures during your fitness journey, or do you rely on the scale?

I've simply been relying on the scale, even though I've been telling myself to take pictures. And also I don't weigh myself to often. Usually 3-4 times a year. But in 2 years I've lost 51 lbs. I am inconsistent too (being honest), I tell myself OK I'LL TRY AGAIN TOMORROW. Love your journey. I'm diabetic and PCOS as well possibly in Perimenpause now though.
