Using leftover prime rib to create a French Dip Toast Boat is a fantastic way to enjoy a classic sandwich with a tasty twist. This recipe incorporates Texas toast baked into a crispy garlic bowl, which holds thinly shaved prime rib dipped in warm au jus—perfect for soaking in all the rich meaty flavors. Pepper jack cheese adds a subtle spicy kick and melts beautifully on top, enhancing each bite with gooey texture. Creating a horseradish sauce with sour cream, horseradish, mayo, apple cider vinegar, chives, salt, and pepper delivers a tangy and creamy complement that balances the savory taste of the meat and cheese. To elevate your French Dip experience, consider using freshly made au jus broth by simmering beef bones and aromatics, or choose a high-quality store-bought version. Ensure the prime rib is sliced thinly and cold for easy handling and an even distribution of flavor. This recipe is not only a great way to avoid waste by repurposing leftover steak or roast, but it also serves as a comforting and hearty meal suitable for casual family dinners or entertaining guests. Serve your French Dip sandwich with extra au jus for dipping and a side of crisp garlic bread or a light salad for a balanced dish. For an extra touch of flavor, experiment with adding caramelized onions or sautéed mushrooms inside the toast boats. These add sweetness and earthiness that pair beautifully with the rich prime rib and spicy horseradish sauce. This easy-to-adapt sandwich recipe offers endless possibilities to customize to your taste, making it a favorite go-to recipe.
