John 6:35-40

Gospel for today according to Saint John

John 6:35-40

Jesus said to the crowds,

"I am the bread of life;

whoever comes to me will never hunger,

and whoever believes in me will never thirst.

But I told you that although you have seen me,

you do not believe.

Everything that the Father gives me will come to me,

and I will not reject anyone who comes to me,

because I came down from heaven not to do my own will

but the will of the one who sent me.

And this is the will of the one who sent me,

that I should not lose anything of what he gave me,

but that I should raise it on the last day.

For this is the will of my Father,

that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him

may have eternal life,

and I shall raise him on the last day."

... Read moreIn today's reflection on John 6:35-40, we delve into the powerful declaration of Jesus as the Bread of Life. This passage emphasizes that Jesus offers not only physical sustenance but addresses our deeper spiritual hunger. He invites all to come to Him, assuring that those who believe will never be forsaken. This promise of never facing spiritual hunger or thirst reflects God’s unwavering love and grace. By embracing these words, believers are reminded to rely on Christ for their spiritual needs, knowing that faith in Him leads to eternal life. As we contemplate this scripture, let us consider how we can share this hope with others, spreading the good news of His unconditional acceptance and nourishment. Our faith in Christ empowers us to rise above challenges and inspires us to be the light in darkness, encouraging those around us to find solace in His presence. In our journey of faith, may we continuously seek to deepen our relationship with God and inspire others to do the same.
