Gospel for today: John 14:6-14
Gospel for today according to Saint John
John 14:6-14
Jesus said to Thomas, "I am the way and the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me.
If you know me, then you will also know my Father.
From now on you do know him and have seen him."
Philip said to him,
"Master, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us."
Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you for so long a time
and you still do not know me, Philip?
Whoever has seen me has seen the Father.
How can you say, 'Show us the Father'?
Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me?
The words that I speak to you I do not speak on my own.
The Father who dwells in me is doing his works.
Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me,
or else, believe because of the works themselves.
Amen, amen, I say to you,
whoever believes in me will do the works that I do,
and will do greater ones than these,
because I am going to the Father.
And whatever you ask in my name, I will do,
so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do it."

Wow, John 14:6-14 truly holds such profound wisdom for our daily lives! Every time I read these verses, I feel a renewed sense of purpose and comfort. When Jesus declares, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me,' it’s not just a statement; it’s an invitation and a clear path forward. For me, understanding 'the Way' means recognizing that following Jesus isn't just about rules or rituals, but about a personal relationship. He's the guide who navigates us through life's complexities, showing us how to live in alignment with God's will. It’s like having a trusted mentor who knows exactly where to go. Then there's 'the Truth' – in a world full of conflicting messages, Jesus offers unwavering, ultimate truth. His teachings provide a foundation that never shifts, helping me discern what is genuinely good and real. And 'the Life'? This isn't just about physical existence, but about spiritual vitality and abundance. Through Him, we experience a life filled with meaning, grace, and hope, even amidst challenges. It’s a life that truly reflects God's love and glory, as the OCR highlights. The conversation with Philip and Thomas in this passage is so relatable. Philip asks to be shown the Father, and Jesus gently reminds him, 'Whoever has seen me has seen the Father.' This really hammers home the intimate connection between Jesus and God. It means we don't need to search for some distant, abstract deity; God is revealed perfectly through Jesus. Knowing Him truly means knowing the Father, and that brings such clarity to my faith journey. And then comes the incredible promise: 'whoever believes in me will do the works that I do, and will do greater ones than these.' This isn't about bragging rights, but about the power of faith working through us. It encourages me to step out in faith, knowing that with God's power, I can contribute to His kingdom in ways I might not even imagine. It’s about being an instrument for positive change and sharing His light with others, making a meaningful impact. Finally, the assurance about prayer is so powerful: 'And whatever you ask in my name, I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.' This isn't a blank check for personal desires, but a call to align our prayers with God’s heart and purpose. When our prayers are aligned with His will, they carry immense power. It reminds me to pray boldly, but always with the intention of glorifying God and seeking His best for myself and others. It reinforces that salvation and a real relationship with God are found only through Jesus. Reflecting on John 14:6-14 truly transforms my perspective. It's a daily reminder that through Jesus, we have direct access to God, undeniable truth, and abundant life. It encourages me to live deliberately, pray purposefully, and believe wholeheartedly that with Him, all things are possible. It's a journey of faith, and this passage is a guiding light.

Amen 🙏
