Books I read and some quotes from them

These past books were an interesting combo. I’ve learned a lot. Now it’s time to implement those lessons. Definitely recommend.

Sarah Deers book is heavy but her work has gone thru the whole scoop of the legal system: federal, tribal, and even the laws of back then of the mative people. Her book was published before the metoo movement and transformative justice caught transition so some of her ways are still very punitive but the biggest part I got from it was to bring sovereignty back to native people especially women and people who have survived sexual harm.

Power Vs. Force was a spiritual book but one that tried to attract the people who thought more in the linear sense. It was beneficial at the end of the day but all the experiments and numbers I kind of got bored of. It was cool to see the philosophy of the Heyoka was there hahahaha

“The Water of Life” I actually haven’t finished it yet. But I am pretty deep in and it’s an astonishing read. I’d say it’s “Women who run with the Wolves” but for men. It mentions a lot about the need for initiation and the death of our child self so that we can take on the new role of becoming a teenager or an adult. Of course you still have that young self in you but the growth comes from taking care of that inner child not staying as them. The stories are amazing and brings much thought into culture and nature of the individual and the collective. Thank you for reading. A’ho!

... Read moreThe article provides a fascinating glimpse into various impactful books, including works by renowned authors like Sarah Deer and David R. Hawkins. Sarah Deer's book dissects the legal challenges faced by Native Americans, especially regarding women and survivors of sexual harm, emphasizing the need for sovereignty and unique restorative justice approaches. David R. Hawkins' 'Power Vs. Force' offers a rich exploration of consciousness levels, revealing how higher consciousness can affect personal and collective empowerment. The spiritual themes challenge readers to reflect on their own emotional states and societal effects. Further, the exploration of 'The Water of Life,' suggests that personal growth involves significant transformation and maturity, resonating with themes of initiation and the nurturing of one's inner child. This juxtaposition of initiating rites across different cultures underscores the universal quest for identity. As we engage with such profound literature, we are encouraged to reflect on our understanding of justice, autonomy, and the evolution of our inner selves.
