Awareness doesn't bring change

If awareness alone could change your life, you would already be living the life you want.

One thing has become very clear to me after countless breakthrough consultations and conversations with women and men.

Most people already know what’s keeping them stuck.

They know the relationship isn’t healthy.

They know they keep people-pleasing.

They know they’re procrastinating.

They know fear is holding them back.

They know they’re repeating the same patterns.

Awareness isn’t the problem.

Last night, a potential client told me she felt stuck and depressed. She said every time she tried to move forward, something kept pulling her back. I asked her how long she had been noticing the pattern.

She said, “About two years.”

Then I asked what had happened during those two years.

She told me it had gotten worse. It had affected her emotionally, financially, professionally, and personally.

Then I asked one more question:

“What happens if nothing changes over the next six months?”

She already knew the answer.

Here’s what I’ve learned as a trauma counselor and life & neuro coach:

The gap isn’t between ignorance and knowledge.

The gap is between awareness and action.

Most people can identify the pattern. They don’t know how to interrupt it.

That’s where I come in.

I help people understand why the pattern exists, what keeps reinforcing it, and how to create new patterns that align with the life they’re trying to build.

Because awareness is the starting line.

Action is what changes your life.

So let me ask you…

What pattern have you been aware of for months… maybe even years?

And what’s it costing you to stay there?

You don’t need more information. What you need is a clear plan, the right support, and someone who can help you bridge the gap between where you are and where you want to be.

That’s exactly what I help my clients do.

... Read moreMany of us find ourselves trapped in repetitive, unhelpful patterns even when we’re fully aware of them. I’ve personally experienced this with procrastination that hindered my productivity for years. Awareness made me realize what was happening, but it wasn’t until I took deliberate steps—such as setting small goals, seeking accountability partners, and practicing self-compassion—that I began to see real progress. Understanding why these patterns persist is crucial. Often, trauma or past experiences shape behaviors that no longer serve us. For instance, I recognized that my people-pleasing tendencies stemmed from a fear of rejection, which was deeply rooted in early life experiences. Bringing this awareness into therapy helped me unpack these fears and develop healthier relationship boundaries. Action requires a clear plan and support. Trying to change on your own can feel overwhelming. I found coaching and community groups invaluable in providing encouragement and strategies tailored to my unique struggles. This helped me replace old habits with empowering routines that aligned with my desired life. Remember, awareness is just the starting point. The real transformation happens when you commit to intentional change and utilize resources that guide and sustain your journey. Reflect on the patterns you’ve noticed—be it procrastination, fear, or unhealthy relationships—and ask yourself: What concrete action can I take today to move forward? Bridging the gap between knowing and doing isn’t easy, but it’s possible. Embracing vulnerability, seeking trauma-informed support, and focusing on actionable steps can lead to lasting change that transforms your life beyond awareness alone.

The image introduces "Somatic Awareness: Listening to the Body's Wisdom" with questions about its definition and practice, set against a backdrop of dark water with green lily pads and white water lilies.
This image defines somatic awareness as listening to the body's felt sense for healing trauma, emphasizing restoring inner safety and reconnecting with the body through sensation, breath, and presence.
The image explains how shifting awareness to bodily sensations regulates the nervous system by engaging specific brain areas, and advises to "feel, name, witness" when triggered for presence without force.
What is somatic awareness & how do we practice it?
Your body holds ancient wisdom. It’s not broken—it’s speaking. Somatic awareness isn’t about fixing… it’s about listening. When you tune into sensation, you shift from survival to sovereignty. Feel. 🌀 Name. 🌀 Witness. 🌀 This is nervous system healing. This is the path home. #somatichealing
