Menopause at 25

I’ve been taking Orilissa (and recently Cymbalta as well) to help with my endometriosis pain and talking about my experience with it. Here’s some things I experienced!

🔥 Hot Flashes: I get hot flashes a lot, and luckily they’re pretty mild for the most part. If I cuddle with my husband or son, it can trigger one, or even sitting outside for too long.

🧊 Cold Flashes: With hot flashes comes cold flashes. It’s like sitting inside a freezer and comes all of the sudden! I get goosebumps, start shivering and my teeth chatter and I need sometimes 2 blankets to get warm!

🦶Itchy Feet: The bottoms of my feet get SUPER itchy, and at the worst times when I can’t take care of it 😭

🤕 Headaches: I’ve been getting really bad headaches that last pretty much all day. So far, the only thing to help them is McDonalds French Fries and Coke! Something about the sodium and caffeine just helps!

😡 Mood swings: My temper has gotten far worse. I lose my patience quick and tend to not be able to control my anger and sadness. My doctor put me on Cymbalta to help with this, and so far it’s been working to help me stay calm!

😣 Pain: Even though the Orilissa is supposed to help with pain by turning off my ovaries so I don’t produce estrogen (the hormone that makes endometriosis grow), I would still get pain in my hips, ovaries and my bladder. That’s also why I am on Cymbalta, because there’s talk that it helps with pelvic pain. So far it is helping (knock on wood ✊🏻)

🥵 Night Sweats: I wake up feeling soaked! I have to sleep with a fan directly pointed on me to help at night!

Has anyone else taken this medication? What is your experience with it?

... Read moreMenopause can occur unexpectedly, even as early as 25, leaving many women to navigate a range of symptoms that can impact daily life. Some common symptoms include hot flashes, cold flashes, night sweats, and mood swings, which often require careful management. Orilissa, a medication used for treating endometriosis, can play a crucial role in alleviating pain caused by hormonal shifts. It works by suppressing the production of estrogen, which is known to contribute to endometriosis-related pain. In addition to Orilissa, some women may turn to Cymbalta, an antidepressant that has shown efficacy in mitigating pelvic pain and improving overall emotional well-being. Managing these conditions often involves more than medication. Women are encouraged to incorporate lifestyle changes such as regular exercise, a balanced diet, and mindfulness practices to help cope with symptoms. Engaging with a supportive community, whether online or in-person, can also provide valuable insights and comfort during this challenging time. If you're experiencing similar symptoms, sharing your journey can help others who may be in the same boat. Don't hesitate to connect and learn from one another.
