12km run, beautiful weather

Scenes from my 12km run today. It was a lovely evening by the lake in Ajax. Tons of people were on the trails too enjoying the weather.

This kind of workout is fantastic for improving cardiovascular fitness and building endurance. The trails around Ajax, especially near Lakeridge Health and Pickering Lakeside, offer stunning views and a serene atmosphere that make running feel less like exercise and more like a rejuvenating experience. On days like this, seeing so many fellow runners and walkers out enjoying the trail adds to the motivation. It’s clear that the community embraces the outdoors, which is a great encouragement for anyone wanting to start or maintain a regular running habit. If you’re considering a similar run, I recommend focusing on pacing strategies. A threshold run at around 5:30/km pace is a great way to push your limits while avoiding burnout. Using a GPS watch or app like Garmin to monitor pace, distance, and heart rate can help you stay on target and track progress over time. In addition, running near water bodies like lakes can provide cooler air and a calming vibe, which can psychologically enhance performance and enjoyment. 40 minute 7km run today. Felt easier than my other recent runs. But I think the shows made a difference. I wore my Hoka Mach 6 this time instead of Brooks Ghost 15. I was able to go faster with less effort.
