My first Portfolio Update! 12/3/2026
Hello everyone!
Here's the portfolio update on the 12th of March 2026. Figures are rough as it fluctuates day to day.
Recently, the market has been unpredictable, and my portfolio is down a few percentage points, but i'm sticking to my long-term game plan of buying and holding. A few weeks ago I purchased MSFT for about $393/share, looking forward to seeing how that will perform in a few months. I will try my best to upload an update every 2-4 months so that I can be as transparent as I can with whatever i'm doing.
Currently, i'm holding on to a lot of cash but I am trying to research more, to find good stocks to put my money to work. I am also contemplating whether I should allocate more into ETFs and REITs, what do you guys think? Let me know in the comments below👇
From personal experience, staying the course with a long-term buy-and-hold strategy during volatile periods often helps prevent knee-jerk reactions that can hurt overall returns. Holding a substantial cash reserve, like the roughly S$10,600 in this update, provides flexibility to seize investment opportunities when market dips occur. Investing in individual stocks such as MSFT at around $393/share involves watching how the company's fundamentals and market trends evolve over several months. Patience is key since stocks can fluctuate in the short-term but perform well in the long run. Considering other asset classes like ETFs and REITs can also diversify risk. ETFs offer exposure to broad market indices or sectors, reducing the impact of single stock volatility. REITs provide dividend income and can act as a hedge against inflation, especially in uncertain economic times. When researching stocks or funds, it’s helpful to look at past performance, dividend yields, management quality, and overall market conditions. Balance between growth stocks and income-generating assets can optimize your portfolio’s risk-reward profile. Finally, regular portfolio reviews every 2-4 months, like planned here, allow you to reassess holdings, cash positions, and market opportunities while staying aligned with your financial goals and risk tolerance. Engaging with fellow investors for feedback on allocation strategies can also offer new perspectives and ideas.
