Fried Donuts with Powdered Sugar & Chocolate

~These homemade fried donuts are light, fluffy, and coated in powdered sugar, then topped with a rich chocolate glaze for the perfect balance of sweetness. Simple, delicious, and easy to make!

Ingredients:

• 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F)

• 2 1/4 tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast

• 1/4 cup granulated sugar

• 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

• 1 large egg

• 1/2 tsp salt

• 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

• Vegetable oil (for frying)

• 1 cup powdered sugar

• 1/2 cup chocolate chips

• 2 tbsp heavy cream or milk

• 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions:

1. In a bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and a teaspoon of sugar. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.

2. Add the remaining sugar, melted butter, egg, and salt. Mix well.

3. Gradually add the flour, mixing until a dough forms. Knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.

5. Roll out the dough to about 1/2-inch thickness and cut into rounds using a cookie cutter or a cup.

6. Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350°F.

7. Fry the donuts in batches, turning occasionally, until golden brown (about 1-2 minutes per side).

8. Remove from oil and place on a paper towel to drain excess oil.

9. Roll the warm donuts in powdered sugar until fully coated.

10. In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the chocolate chips and heavy cream (or milk). Stir continuously until smooth and fully melted.

11. Stir in vanilla extract (if using) for added flavor.
