how oral care affects gut health 🦷✨
oral care is not only important for our teeth, but also our gut health!! we have a oral-gut microbiome axis which means the bacteria in our mouth travels to our gut.
SO the oral care we do affects our gut! We need to make sure we are removing bacteria from our mouth after waking up and before bed!! In the mornings, we have a lot of bacteria in our mouth from the night before. We don’t want to wake up & immediately start eating and drinking without removing that bacteria first!
Here’s my routine:
1) tongue scraping to get the bacteria build up off our tongue.
2) oil pull! coconut oil is antimicrobial and helps balance the bacteria in your mouth
3) brush your teeth to continue removing bacteria from our mouth!
After this is done I hydrate and eat breakfast 🥹
I love this routine!! Hope this helps xx

Oral care goes beyond just maintaining a bright smile; it also plays a pivotal role in your gut health. The oral-gut microbiome axis indicates that the bacteria in your mouth can influence the composition of your gut microbiome. This relationship emphasizes the importance of regular oral hygiene practices. To effectively manage the bacteria in your mouth, it's essential to establish a consistent routine. Starting your day with tongue scraping helps remove the bacteria build-up on your tongue, setting a clean slate for the day. Following that, oil pulling with antimicrobial coconut oil balances oral bacteria and can help prevent infections and improve dental health. Finally, brushing your teeth ensures any remaining bacteria are removed, optimizing your oral environment. If neglected, poor oral hygiene can lead to harmful bacteria traveling to your gut, potentially resulting in digestive issues and other health problems. That's why incorporating effective oral care routines is crucial for overall health. Remember, the next time you think about oral care, consider its far-reaching implications for your gut health. Regularly practicing good oral hygiene not only leads to a lovely smile but also supports a healthier gut, boosting your overall wellbeing. Make oral care a priority and experience the positive effects on your health!

Yes! The gut - & the kidneys - directly impact & are connected to - our oral health! Dentists wont tell you this! I love the guru nanda brand. I have that tongue scraper as well. I was going to ask about that toothbrush, because it looks interesting. I use the guru nanda brand toothbrushes with the charcoal bristles
