Homemade Poptarts Recipe ๐Ÿฅงโœจ

These homemade poptarts are such a yummy & fun breakfast or snack! ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿง

Ingredients:

For the Dough:

- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour ๐Ÿฅฃ

- 1 tbsp sugar ๐Ÿฌ

- 1 tsp salt ๐Ÿง‚

- 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed ๐Ÿงˆ

- 1/2 cup ice water ๐Ÿ’ง

For the Filling:

- 1/2 cup your favorite jam or fruit preserves ๐Ÿ“

- 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water (optional, for thicker filling) ๐ŸŒŸ

For the Glaze:

- 1 cup powdered sugar ๐Ÿš

- 2-3 tbsp milk ๐Ÿฅ›

- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract ๐Ÿฆ

- Food coloring and sprinkles (optional) ๐ŸŒˆ

You can make your own filling too! Look out for a recipe soon!* ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ’

Instructions:

Prepare the Dough:

1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, and salt. ๐Ÿฅ„

2. Add the cold, cubed butter and cut it into the flour mixture using a pastry cutter or your hands until it resembles coarse crumbs. ๐Ÿงˆโžก๏ธ๐Ÿš

3. Gradually add the ice water, mixing until the dough just comes together. You may not need all the water. ๐Ÿ’ง

4. Divide the dough into two disks, wrap them in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour. โฒ๏ธ

Prepare the Filling:

1. If you prefer a thicker filling, mix the cornstarch and water into the jam. ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ“

2. Set aside. ๐Ÿฏ

Assemble the Poptarts:

1. Preheat your oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ“„

2. Roll out one of the dough disks on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8-inch thickness. ๐Ÿช

3. Cut the dough into rectangles (about 3x4 inches). ๐Ÿ”ช

4. Place half of the rectangles on the prepared baking sheet. ๐Ÿ“

5. Spoon a small amount of the filling onto the center of each rectangle, leaving a small border around the edges. ๐Ÿ“

6. Place another rectangle of dough on top of the filling and press the edges together with a fork to seal. ๐Ÿด

7. Poke a few holes on the top of each poptart with a fork to allow steam to escape. ๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ

8. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿฅง

Glaze and Decorate:

1. In a small bowl, mix the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. ๐Ÿš๐Ÿฅ›๐Ÿฆ

2. Add food coloring if desired and drizzle over the cooled poptarts. ๐ŸŒˆ

3. Decorate with sprinkles. โœจ๐Ÿฌ
