1 Tbsp of baking powder
1/2 Tsp of salt (leave out if you are using self rising flour)

In a large mixing bowl combine flour, baking powder and salt. Add butter in smallish pieces
With hands or pastry blender combine flour mixture and butter till the butter is in pea sized mixture and crumbly.
Pour in milk and combine with a wooden spoon until well combined. Make sure not to over mix.

Homemade biscuits are a beloved staple in many households, especially in Southern cuisine. The key to achieving perfectly fluffy and tender biscuits lies in a few critical steps. First, ensure your butter is cold; this helps create those flaky layers. When mixing the dough, avoid overworking it to maintain that tender texture. For variety, consider adding ingredients like shredded cheese or herbs for flavor enhancement. Additionally, using buttermilk instead of regular milk can give your biscuits a richer taste and improve their rise. To elevate your biscuit experience, serve them warm with butter, or create a delightful biscuit sandwich with fried chicken or ham. You can also experiment with flavored butters, such as garlic or honey butter, to complement the rich, buttery taste of your biscuits. Lastly, remember to preheat your skillet or cookie sheet to achieve a gorgeous golden-brown crust. Biscuits are best enjoyed fresh out of the oven, so gather your family, share the warmth, and enjoy the homemade goodness in every bite!

These were great. I made them a little thin so couldn’t cook them as long but they were so moist!
