Gastric sleeve surgery🩷!!

Hi my name is Kathryn and on April 22,2024 at 5am, I had my Gastric Sleeve Surgery and I will be posting everything through my journey.

So let’s get started on why I had it.

I weighed over 300 pounds at 21 years old. I started gaining weight fast when I had knee surgery in 2019, and I was scared to do what I used to do which was workout and play competitive softball because I would never be able to play again so I became depressed, lazy and didn’t want to do anything but stay home. But fast forward to 2020, I found my boyfriend and he took me out to eat everyday. We would mainly lay around and watch movies or play Xbox and go to work. I was very happy and we were eating A LOT. We’ve been dating for 4 years in June, and these past 4 years I’ve gained over 200 pounds and I’m very unhealthy and can’t do things that I used to do. I have mental health problems and health problems from my weight and I finally decided that it was enough. I kept thinking will I even live past 21 years old the way I’m going. So my mom and I did our research and she had the gastric bypass 19 years ago. I went to the Weight loss physician and decided to get the sleeve. I had to go weigh every month at my primary doctor for 6 months to qualify for insurance to pay for the surgery. At the beginning of April, I got approved to have the surgery! A week before my surgery I was on a full liquid diet and did a little walking and I lost 7 pounds!!! Fast forward to yesterday, April 22 - I had my surgery!

... Read moreGastric sleeve surgery, also known as vertical sleeve gastrectomy, is a popular weight-loss procedure that involves removing a significant portion of the stomach. This surgery not only aids in weight loss but can also improve many obesity-related health conditions. Many patients, like myself, decide on this path after battling weight gain due to circumstances, including emotional health issues and lifestyle choices. Research is a vital step before considering the procedure. Individuals should understand the potential risks and benefits, work with qualified professionals, and motivate themselves to commit to a healthier lifestyle post-surgery. Maintaining a supportive community, along with sharing experiences online, can greatly enhance the journey. It's essential to set realistic expectations for weight loss and recovery. Patients often experience rapid weight loss initially, followed by a gradual process of adopting healthier eating habits and regular physical activity. As I embark on this journey, I look forward to documenting the ups and downs, including my experiences during the pre-op diet and what it means to join a supportive gastric sleeve community. By sharing my story, I hope to inspire others to take control of their health and consider the options available for weight management.

Thank you so much for reading if you did. I wasn’t sure if I was going to share this experience with the world because I was afraid of how people would react to it. But I’m not going to let other people’s opinions choose my actions. I’m so proud of myself for going through this process and getting
