1 Year Exclusively Breastfeeding 🤱🏻🤍

1 whole year of exclusively breastfeeding (tomorrow). I have never made it this far without supplementing with formula. It’s absolutely crazy to me that my body could feed my baby for this long, I’m am so dang proud of myself. I honestly never thought I’d get here and now that I am it doesn’t feel real. It’s so cool that I get to say my body did it. I went 1 whole year exclusively breastfeeding my baby.

1st time (Layla) I did it for a month and I honestly didn’t understand a ton then and didn’t have much help. I was just told to do it. So with lack of education and help I stopped.

2nd time (Ivory) I was determined to get to 1 year because I wanted to give Ivory as much as I could. I made it to 9 months before I was told I had to supplement with formula because she wasn’t getting enough. So we did both until Ivory was 15 months.

This time, I didn’t supplement AT ALL. And here we are 1 year later😭.

I’m not saying formula is bad, and I’m not saying I’m “better” because I breast fed my baby the whole year. This was simply a goal of mine that I finally reached and I’m so damn proud of myself. I made it. I finally did it. 🤍🌿🤱🏻🥛

... Read moreBreastfeeding exclusively for one year is a remarkable achievement that many mothers aspire to. Research shows that exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months can provide numerous health benefits for both mother and baby, including optimal nutrition and immune support. It’s common for new mothers to face challenges during their breastfeeding journey, from learning effective latching techniques to dealing with concerns about supply. Education and support systems can play a vital role in helping mothers achieve their breastfeeding goals. Sharing experiences, like the transition from partial to exclusive breastfeeding, can foster a supportive community where mothers feel empowered. Consider joining local or online breastfeeding groups to exchange tips, celebrate milestones, and overcome obstacles with others who share similar experiences. Remember, every mother’s journey is unique—whether you’re breastfeeding exclusively or supplementing with formula, what matters most is making informed choices that best suit you and your baby. Your journey is valid, and there is a community ready to support you at every step.
