Baking spaghetti squash: face up or down?🤔
I’ve seen people bake spaghetti squash both ways, but I never knew the difference so I decided to try both methods and put it to the test!👩🏻🔬
I drizzled olive oil with seasonings and baked both at 400F for 60 mins (you can start with 40 mins).🌶️🧂
The key difference is the moisture!😜
Face Up (cut side up)- the cut surface is exposed to heat.
➡️Results in a slightly drier squash with more al dente “noodles,” since moisture can evaporate from the open side.
➡️Good if you want a firmer texture that holds up well in sautés or pasta dishes.
Face Down (cut side down)- The cut surface rests on the baking sheet.
➡️Steam is trapped between the squash and pan, making it more tender and moister.
➡️Good if you want a soft, almost roasted texture.
So both ways actually work! Depends on your preference!😝
To make this meal low carb and high protein, I make savory protein with turkey, mushrooms, and spinach cooked in a marinara sauce and it comes out so satisfying!!🤤

I always prefer baking it down!
