Many people who have a resting bitch face (RBF) often wish they could appear more approachable or nonchalant, but the reality is quite different. From my personal experience, having a face that naturally looks serious or unapproachable can lead to various misunderstandings in social situations. People often misinterpret my expressions as negative or disinterested, when in fact, my face is simply an honest reflection of what I’m thinking at the moment. One thing I’ve noticed is that RBF isn’t about being cold or unfriendly; it’s more about the natural resting position of certain facial muscles. I’ve tried consciously smiling or softening my expression, but it can feel exhausting to maintain that façade constantly. This struggle is common among many who deal with RBF, and it can sometimes affect confidence and social interactions. Interestingly, embracing the natural expression has been part of my journey to self-acceptance. Instead of trying to mask what my face naturally shows, I’ve found it helpful to clarify my intentions through words and actions rather than relying solely on facial cues. This has helped reduce some social barriers and allowed people to understand me better beyond first impressions. If you have RBF like me, you’re not alone. It’s a common experience, and many have found that acknowledging it openly and adding some lightheartedness can ease the tension around first impressions. Whether you’re at work, social events, or casual meetups, remember that your face tells a story, but you get to write the full narrative through your personality and kindness.
