Today is only 1/75 , and honestly I’ve been second guessing my decision in doing this challenge since the waking up part😂 but honestly that’s how I know I need to do this.
Last night my sleep was broken multiple times so it was so hard to wake up at 5am this morning and get my day started, but I did it anyways😌 I took my dog with me on a walk today for the first 45 mins workout outdoors and then I went to the gym, which was extremely hard because for some reason I was mentally super anti about it and dreading going. But of course, I got my butt in there.
Doing the Anti-Inflammatory Diet is pretty interesting because I feel SO full… but that could also be because of all the water I had today as well. I did feel fully energized for the productive day I had (hence the caffeine-free pre-workout), and it felt good having well balanced meals.
So far, it’s definitely been a little exhausting, but I love how I cooked all my meals for today. I know to some people it comes as second nature to make your breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily but I haven’t been in that space for quite some time so claps for me👏👏👏😁
It feels really good to prioritize investing time into myself mentally, emotionally, and physically no matter what goes on throughout the day. And the fact that this is for 75 days, I’m looking forward to adopting the healthy habits I’ll pick up along the way.
Biggest Thing I Learned Today: You decide through your actions if you will evolve and progress OR if you will stay the same in the same place. Don’t let the thought “I don’t feel like it” keep you in the same place. Do it anyway!
... Read moreStepping into the 75 HARD challenge is a commitment that truly tests your mental and physical limits. My Day 1 was a whirlwind of early mornings and pushing through discomfort, but it laid the groundwork for what's to come. For anyone looking to embark on this journey or just curious about the practicalities, here’s a deeper dive into how I’m tackling the core components that many search for, from diet to daily tasks.
First, let's talk about the 75 HARD Challenge Rules themselves. They are non-negotiable and the backbone of this program. Every day means two 45-minute workouts (one outdoors, one indoors), drinking a gallon of water, reading 10 pages of a non-fiction self-development book, sticking to a strict diet with no cheat meals or alcohol, and taking a daily progress photo. For my outdoor workout, a brisk walk with my dog is perfect for clearing my head and getting some fresh air. For the indoor session, I hit the gym for a mix of strength training and cardio. The key is consistency, even when you really 'don't feel like it' – a lesson I already learned on Day 1!
One of the most impactful rules for me is adhering to a chosen diet. I've opted for an Anti-Inflammatory Diet, which aligns perfectly with my goal of feeling fully energized and improving overall well-being. This isn't just about weight loss; it's about nourishing your body. My anti-inflammatory food list emphasizes fresh fruits, a wide variety of vegetables and legumes, lean proteins like fatty fish (hello, salmon!), healthy fats (avocado is my best friend!), and whole grains. I steer clear of processed foods, excessive sugar, alcohol, and anything that might cause a flare-up. Meal planning is absolutely crucial here. On Day 1, I prepared breakfasts like avocado toast with eggs, and for lunch/dinner, I had a delicious salmon bowl with cucumbers and rice. Batch cooking on the weekends makes sticking to this plan during busy weekdays much easier and helps me avoid any temptation for cheat meals.
My 75 HARD Daily Routine starts promptly at 5 AM. It's a jolt to the system, but it ensures I can fit in my first workout and gallon of water intake before my workday truly begins. The gallon of water seems daunting, but I keep a large bottle with me and sip constantly throughout the day, aiming to finish it by early evening to avoid nighttime bathroom trips. Fitting in 10 pages of a self-development book, often from a list including classics like "Think and Grow Rich" or "The Obstacle Is the Way," happens during my commute or just before bed. It’s amazing how quickly those pages add up and how much positivity they bring.
For 75 HARD Challenge Workouts, variety is key to staying motivated. Beyond my dog walks, my outdoor workout might be a jog, cycling, or even yard work. Indoors, I focus on compound movements at the gym. Some days I'll incorporate a high-intensity interval training (HIIT) session, and other days I'll focus on lifting weights. Listening to your body but pushing your limits is the balance. I've also found supplements helpful, such as a stim-free pre-workout like Legion Pulse, which helps me get through those tough gym sessions without the jitters, especially when waking up so early.
Ultimately, the commitment to these 75 HARD Daily Tasks is about building mental fortitude and healthy habits. It’s about proving to yourself that you can do hard things and that self-investment is worth every ounce of effort. Each day is a small victory, and I'm excited to see the transformation over the next 74 days.
