Get over it simply doesn't work and it's not helpful. We allow ourselves to release all of the emotions. We allow ourselves to forgive and love ourselves. It's all a game of allowing these things. Being kind is the only way to move forward long term in our lives.
From my own experience, I’ve found that the phrase "get over it" often feels dismissive, as if my emotions are invalid or unimportant. It wasn’t until I allowed myself to fully experience my feelings—anger, sadness, frustration—that I began to heal. Releasing these emotions through journaling, talking to trusted friends, or even creative outlets made a tremendous difference. Moreover, forgiving myself was crucial. I realized that holding onto guilt or self-blame only prolonged my pain. Forgiveness isn’t about excusing what happened but freeing yourself from the burden of negativity. This shift helped me cultivate self-love and compassion. The idea of "allowing" emotions and kindness also means being patient. Progress isn’t linear, and it’s okay to have setbacks. Each moment of kindness toward myself helped me move forward sustainably. Incorporating daily practices like mindfulness or affirmations reinforced this approach. They reminded me to acknowledge my emotions without judgment and treat myself with the same empathy I’d offer a friend. Ultimately, this journey taught me that being kind to yourself is not just a one-time action but an ongoing practice essential for long-term well-being and growth.
