how I get 10k+ steps a day as a college student!

I know that getting your steps in can be one of the hardest things to do when you spend all day studying at a desk. Here are some of the ways I ensure I get over 10k steps a day as a college student!

#lemon8partner #lemon8college #fitnesslifestyle #walk

2025/4/28 Edited to

... Read moreIt's so easy to get caught up in lectures, studying, and late-night library sessions that our step count takes a nosedive. I totally get it – I used to struggle with this too! But I've found that incorporating movement into my day isn't just good for my body; it really helps clear my head and boosts my focus for those long study sessions. Beyond just walking to class, there are so many little tweaks you can make. For example, my 'morning movement' isn't always a full-blown workout. Sometimes it's just a brisk 15-minute walk around my dorm building or campus perimeter before breakfast. It wakes me up better than coffee sometimes! If the weather's bad, I'll even hop on the treadmill for a quick incline walk while listening to a podcast. Seeing those numbers tick up on the treadmill console is super motivating. And speaking of walking to class, have you tried taking the longer route? Instead of the most direct path, I'll often choose the path that snakes through the scenic parts of campus. It adds an extra 5-10 minutes, but those beautiful trees and fresh air make such a difference. Plus, if you have a friend going to the same building, make it a walking buddy system! It's a great way to catch up and get those steps in together. The 'afternoon hot girl walks' are truly a game-changer for me. This isn't just about looking good; it's about feeling empowered and taking a mental break. I usually put on my favorite playlist or an inspiring podcast and just explore. Sometimes I'll walk to a different coffee shop further away, or find a new park. It's my time to decompress after a morning of classes and reset before evening studies. I've found so many hidden gems around my college town this way! What about when you're stuck studying all day? I try to implement 'study breaks' that involve movement. Every hour or so, I'll do a quick lap around my room or dorm floor. If I'm at the library, I'll walk to a different floor to get a book or just grab a water. These micro-movements really add up! Another great tip is to turn study groups into walking study groups, especially if you're just brainstorming or reviewing. You'd be surprised how much you can cover while getting those steps. Don't forget about campus activities! Intramural sports, dance clubs, or even just exploring campus events often involve more walking than you'd expect. And if you're visiting friends, suggest walking to their dorm or a common meeting spot instead of relying on shuttles or rideshare for short distances. Every little bit counts, and once you start seeing your step count climb, it becomes a really fun challenge to keep it up!
