... Read moreDealing with a narcissistic mother can be incredibly challenging, especially during emotionally charged times like Mother’s Day. One thing I’ve learned through my own experience is the importance of setting and respecting personal boundaries. The phrase "Your narcissistic mother earned her boundary" really resonates because it highlights that sometimes, the healthiest action is emotional distance. Social pressure around Mother's Day can feel overwhelming when you carry the weight of past conditioning and manipulation. Narcissistic mothers often program you to seek their approval or feel guilt, which makes breaking free from these patterns difficult. Recognizing that this pressure is a form of control is a significant step toward healing. In my journey, acknowledging that people with so-called "normal" mothers often have very different experiences helped me stop unhealthy comparisons. Instead, I focused on self-care and connecting with supportive communities like #daughtersofnarcissisticmothers. Sharing stories and coping strategies helped me realize I am not alone. Learning to establish boundaries doesn't mean you stop caring; it means you prioritize your mental health over the toxicity. This might mean limiting contact or redefining interactions to protect yourself emotionally. Remember, healing is a personal path, and honoring your needs is essential to recovery from narcissistic abuse.

Narcissistic parents…let’s talk about it!
Growing up, I always wondered why my dad could be fine one moment, and flying into rage the next. As I got older, I felt like I was walking more on eggshells. It was as though he always expected everyone around him to feel what he felt all the time, and to be able to read his mind when he wanted so
