Running feels hard because you’re fighting your breath…👇

Not your fitness.

Not your talent.

Not your genetics.

You’re letting your breathing run you instead of the other way around.

When breathing gets shallow:

• Shoulders rise

• Jaw tightens

• Stride shortens

• Heart rate spikes

Now everything feels harder than it actually is.

Here’s the shift 👇

1️⃣ Breathe rhythmically

Match breath to steps (3 in / 2 out). Control creates calm.

2️⃣ Relax your face

Unclench your jaw. Drop your shoulders.

Tension steals oxygen.

3️⃣ Slow the ego

If breathing is frantic, you started too fast.

Ease back. Reset. Then build.

Hard runs don’t start in your legs.

They start in your lungs.

Control your breath…

and you control your pace.

Run like a girl!

... Read moreFrom my experience as a runner, understanding and mastering breathing techniques can truly transform your running sessions. Initially, I used to push hard right from the start, only to find myself gasping for air after a few minutes. This frantic breathing not only made each run feel tougher but also negatively affected my stride and overall enjoyment. I found that focusing on rhythmic breathing—specifically matching three steps on the inhale and two steps on the exhale—helped me keep calm and maintain a steady pace. This simple pattern allowed me to keep my shoulders down and jaw relaxed, which surprisingly made a huge difference. Tension in the face and shoulders can restrict oxygen intake, so consciously relaxing these areas helped me breathe deeper and more efficiently. Another key lesson was to slow down my ego. I realized that starting too fast often led to shallow, frantic breaths that made the run feel more difficult than it actually was. By easing back, resetting my breathing rhythm, and gradually building up speed, my runs became more manageable and even enjoyable. Breathing control not only improved my endurance but also reduced heart rate spikes during runs, helping me avoid burnout. It’s almost like my lungs became the true leaders of my pace, rather than my legs forcing the speed. For anyone struggling with running difficulty, I highly recommend paying close attention to your breath first. Try the 3-in/2-out rhythm, consciously relax your face and shoulders, and be patient with your pace. These small shifts can make a big impact in making hard runs feel easier and more sustainable. Remember, controlling your breath helps you control your run—and your confidence will grow with each step.
