... Read moreReflecting on my high school years, it's clear that being tagged as the "weird art kid" was both a challenge and a blessing. Back then, labels like "jock," "preppy," or "vegan" were the norm, and kids quickly found their niche. For me, it was the oddball artist who spent more time creating unconventional art than fitting in. I can still recall moments like making weird Yoshi art on half-eaten brownies or the infamous Colonel Sanders painting crafted with ketchup and mustard—my friends never let me forget those! What surprised me most was how my friends quickly recognized this unique label without hesitation, illustrating how our identities in high school can stick with us forever. It wasn't always easy carrying that oddball status, but it sparked creativity and resilience that I treasure today. Weird goo on clothes or unrecognizable paint spots became badges of honor rather than weird stigmas. Now, as an adult active on the internet and part of vibrant communities like the vtuber world, I embrace that quirky side wholeheartedly. Looking back, I realize that the school labels don’t define you — your creativity, persistence, and willingness to be yourself do. If you are or were the "weird art kid," remember: your uniqueness is your superpower, often setting you up for a lifetime of creativity, passion, and connection. If you’re struggling with fitting into cliques or feeling out of place because of your artistic interests, know that many have walked this path and thrived. High school is just a chapter, and embracing your weirdness can lead to amazing growth and unforgettable memories.
