Salisbury Steak with Mushroom Gravy 🍄 🥩

Ingredients 🛒

For the Steaks:

1 lb (450 g) ground beef

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1 egg

1 tbsp ketchup

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

1/2 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp onion powder

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 tsp black pepper

For the Mushroom Gravy:

2 tbsp butter

8 oz (225 g) mushrooms, sliced

1 small onion, finely diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 tbsp all-purpose flour

2 cups beef broth

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1/2 tsp dried thyme (optional)

Salt and pepper, to taste

Directions 🍴

Prepare the Steaks

In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined. Divide into 4 equal portions and shape into oval patties.

Cook the Steaks

Heat a large skillet over medium heat and lightly grease with oil. Cook the patties for 3–4 minutes per side until browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside (they’ll finish cooking in the gravy).

Make the Mushroom Gravy

In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add mushrooms and onions, cooking until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in garlic and cook for another minute.

Thicken the Gravy

Sprinkle flour over the mushroom mixture, stirring until coated. Gradually add beef broth, stirring to prevent lumps. Add Worcestershire sauce and thyme, if using. Simmer for 3–5 minutes until thickened.

Combine and Serve

Return the steaks to the skillet, spooning the gravy over them. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until the steaks are cooked through. Serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, or vegetables.
