4. Add eggs and vanilla, mix to combine
5. Combine dry ingredients 1 cup at a time .
6. Stir in 1/2 bag of chocolate chips
7. Let dough chill and mix up brownie batter as it says on the box just before you take your cookie dough out of the fridge.

... Read moreMaking Brownie and Browned Butter Cookie Squares is a fantastic way to enjoy two beloved desserts in one treat. From my experience, browning the butter adds a wonderful depth of flavor that really elevates the cookie dough portion of this recipe. The nutty aroma that develops when butter is cooked until it bubbles and turns golden brown creates a unique and irresistible taste.
When preparing this recipe, letting the cookie dough chill for about an hour is key to achieving the right texture. Chilling firms up the dough making it easier to spoon over the brownie batter without it melting too quickly during baking. Using a combination of brown sugar and white sugar not only balances sweetness but also contributes to a chewy texture in the cookies.
For best results, carefully monitor the baking time and test doneness by inserting a toothpick in the center. Depending on your oven, baking times can vary, so checking as early as 30 minutes in can prevent over-baking. The final product should have a fudgy brownie base with slightly crisp edges on the cookie topping.
Experimenting with different types of chocolate chips or chunks can also personalize this dessert. Semi-sweet chocolate works well, but adding a mix of dark, milk, or even white chocolate can enhance complexity.
Overall, this recipe is a crowd-pleaser perfect for family gatherings or when you want to impress friends with a homemade treat. Baking these squares offers a satisfying process and a deliciously indulgent result that combines classic flavors with a rich twist thanks to the browned butter.
These turned out so good. Thank you!
