Before we officially move in, we got furniture delivered… then something happened.
Not going to lie... there was a moment where I genuinely thought our furniture wasn’t going to fit through the door. 😂 My heart dropped, and I was already imagining having to return everything before we’d even finished moving in.
But somehow, it all worked out!
Now that everything is coming together, it’s finally starting to feel like home. Every box unpacked, every piece of furniture in its place, it still feels surreal that this is ours. Jon and I are so excited to create and share the entire process.
We’re almost all set up, and I’m honestly so happy with how it’s turning out. Now I need to know... how did we do? Do you love our furniture choices? And if you’ve bought your first home (or recently redecorated), what furniture did you go with? I’d love some inspiration for the finishing touches.
Send me pictures of your space in the comments! 🏡✨
Furnishing your first home is always an adventure, and I can totally relate to the mix of excitement and nerves you feel throughout the process. When we ordered our furniture from Costco, I was particularly anxious about whether the large pieces, like the top grain leather 5-piece sectional from Simon Li and the massive dark grey Aiden & Ivy 6-piece modular couch, would fit through the door. It’s such a relief when everything finally makes it inside! One tip I found helpful was having an extra pair of hands on moving day. We called in my cousin to help, especially for the bigger couches, which made the assembly and placement much smoother. Costco’s team also did a great job setting up the couches; it’s definitely worth paying for installation if you want to avoid the hassle. Another great find was the IKEA Tonstad desk in Oak Douglas. It’s sturdy, stylish, and perfect for creating a productive office space at home. I paired that with Corrigan Studio’s upholstered solid wood dining chairs from Wayfair, which complemented my transformer table beautifully. For comfort, the Douglas Summit Hybrid mattress was a great investment, making sure that tiredness after moving day wasn’t an issue. And upgrading from an older TV to the Sony 77" OLED BRAVIA 8 Series has been a game changer for our movie room. If you’re new to furnishing your home, my advice is to plan ahead for delivery and assembly logistics, measure your space carefully, and don't hesitate to ask for help. Also, don’t shy away from mixing brands like Costco and IKEA to create a personalized, stylish space. Most importantly, enjoy the process—every box unpacked and piece of furniture placed brings you closer to calling your house a home. I’m eager to see how others have styled their spaces too, so sharing photos and tips can be a great source of inspiration!
