hiking in the adirondacks!

it’s my first time in the northern united states and I went on a hike in the adirondacks today! it was called bald mountain and it was super fun! I’m not a super big hiker and it was the perfect difficulty- hard enough to be challenging for me, but not so hard that it wasn’t fun. it was really rocky and steep which was cool because I’m not used to that. I’m definitely going to try and hike more after this! I’m pretty into rock climbing and other outdoorsy activities so it makes sense. I definitely recommend having shoes with good ankle support :)

... Read moreI'm still buzzing from my Bald Mountain hike in the Adirondacks! Since my last post, so many of you asked for more details, so I wanted to share some practical tips and what really made it such an unforgettable experience, especially for a first-timer like me. This gem, located in upstate NY, near the popular Lake George area, is truly a must-do. Don't let the relatively short distance fool you – the Bald Mountain trail packs a punch! It's roughly two miles roundtrip, but it's a constant, steady climb. The initial part might feel gentle, but soon enough, you'll find yourself navigating those “challenging, rocky, and root-covered trails” that some of the pictures beautifully captured. This is exactly why my earlier tip about good ankle support isn't just a suggestion, it's a necessity! The “rocky terrain” really lives up to its name, making you feel like a true adventurer. And the reward at the top? Absolutely breathtaking! The “scenic view from Bald Mountain” showcases everything you could wish for. You're treated to a “breathtaking panoramic view from the Adirondacks,” with “multiple interconnected lakes surrounded by vast green forests” stretching as far as the eye can see. Under that bright blue sky with fluffy white clouds, the “distant mountains” create a truly majestic backdrop. I was particularly captivated by the “winding lake” below, which I believe is Bald Mountain Lake itself, shimmering beautifully. Standing on that “rocky summit overlooking the expansive green forests and a large lake,” you get a real 360-degree spectacle. For anyone planning their own Bald Mountain adventure, here are a few more tips based on my experience: Hydration is Key: Seriously, bring plenty of water. The climb, while fun, is a workout, and you'll thank yourself at the top. Fuel Up: Pack some energy-boosting snacks. A little pick-me-up at the summit makes those views even better. Layer Up: Even on a sunny day, the conditions on the exposed “rocky perch” at the top can be cooler and windier than at the base. Sun Protection: Don't forget sunscreen and a hat, especially if you plan to linger at the summit soaking in the views. Pace Yourself: It’s not a race! Take your time, enjoy the journey through the “dense, sun-dappled forest,” and soak in the natural beauty around you. What I loved most about Bald Mountain is that it’s genuinely challenging enough to feel like a significant accomplishment, but not so grueling that it takes away from the fun. It’s perfect if you're like me – keen on outdoorsy activities and rock climbing, but maybe not ready for an all-day epic trek. This hike definitely ignited a new passion for exploring more of the “nature” and “sports” that the Adirondacks in NY have to offer. If you're looking for a rewarding day out with incredible views, Bald Mountain is definitely one to add to your bucket list!
