Lemon Berry Gut Health Smoothie
The most refreshing, delicious lemon berry probiotic smoothie! Not pictured: my 4-year-old begging me to make something with her. Recipe ⬇️
▢ 3/4 cup Lifeway mixed berry kefir (do not recommend substituting this one!)
▢ 1/2 cup vanilla Greek yogurt or omit and use full cup of kefir (can sub with plain yogurt for lower sugar content)
▢ 1 tablespoon chia seeds
▢ 1 cup frozen mixed berries
▢ Zest of 1/3 a lemon, plus some of the juice per taste preference
▢ Pinch of salt
-> Protein powder is optional! 354 calories, 23g protein, 11g fiber without it.
Top with whipped cream! It’s very thick but will thin out as you drink it. Or, add a splash of water or milk.

Oh my goodness, you guys! If you're looking for a delicious and easy way to boost your gut health, you absolutely HAVE to try this Lemon Berry Gut Health Smoothie. I've been making it almost daily, and it's become my go-to for feeling amazing from the inside out. Sometimes I'm craving something light but packed with goodness, and this 'lemon berry booster juice' (even though it's technically a smoothie – it's so refreshing it feels like a juice!) hits all the right notes. It’s not just tasty; it’s a powerhouse for your digestion, and I genuinely notice a difference in my energy levels and overall well-being when I regularly enjoy it. The magic really happens with the mixed berry kefir and those vibrant frozen mixed berries. Kefir is a superstar for your gut, loaded with probiotics that help keep your digestive system happy and balanced. And berries? They're bursting with antioxidants, making this smoothie a true health hero. Don't forget the fresh lemon zest – it adds such a bright, zesty kick that truly elevates the flavor profile. I also love throwing in chia seeds for an extra fiber boost and healthy fats; they make it so satisfying! One of my favorite things about this recipe is how adaptable it is. While the Lifeway mixed berry kefir is highly recommended for its unique flavor and probiotic punch, you can totally play around with it. Sometimes I'll add a scoop of vanilla or unflavored protein powder if I need a more filling meal replacement or a post-workout recovery drink. And for those with a sweet tooth, a little drizzle of honey or maple syrup can be lovely, though I find the natural sweetness of the berries is usually enough. For a different texture, you can adjust the amount of liquid – add a splash of water or milk if you prefer a thinner consistency, or keep it thick for a spoonable smoothie bowl, topped with some extra berries or a sprinkle of granola. To get that perfectly creamy texture, I always blend the liquids first, then add the frozen fruit and other solids. This helps prevent any chunks and ensures a super smooth drink. And trust me, adding a little pinch of salt truly brings out all the flavors – it's a game-changer! And yes, a dollop of whipped cream on top makes it feel like a decadent treat, even though it's packed with nutrients. It's a little indulgence that makes healthy eating fun. Seriously, try it! So good! It's also incredibly convenient for busy mornings. I often prep my ingredients the night before, so all I have to do is toss them in the blender and hit go. It’s a fantastic way to get a lot of nutrients into your body first thing, setting a positive tone for the day. And if you're like me and sometimes struggle to get enough fiber, this smoothie is a delicious solution. The chia seeds, combined with the fiber from the berries, really help keep things moving smoothly. Whether you're new to gut health or a seasoned pro, this Lemon Berry Gut Health Smoothie recipe is a must-add to your routine. It’s quick, easy, and genuinely delicious. Your gut will thank you!
