Why recovery is so important

Cool down period

~ helps prevent venous pooling in your legs

• this means it gives time for blood to start circulating properly again at a good pace instead of accumulating in your legs where your oxygen was most needed

~ helps you catch your breath

• you can start breathing at a good rhythm again without hyperventilating post run! “in through your nose for 2 secs, out through the mouth for 4 secs”

Stretch

~ Prevents DOMS

• DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) can be prevented my stretching

~ 4 times 30 seconds

• research shows that your muscles don’t fully stretch till after 2 mins, so it’s important you do 4 times 30 seconds on each leg

i can post a good warm up/cool down if you want!

hope this helps :)
