We had a nice trip, even though it was short, and got some good visiting time in. Scroll to the middle to see TONS of tiny crabs and scroll to the end to see Zoe eating “fridge food,” as she’s been calling it. 🥰
(She’s using “fridge food” to describe any food that she can eat in the same form we would, like it doesn’t need to be mashed or blended, and she usually feeds herself fridge food instead of wanting us to help her eat.)

During our recent visit to my mom’s house, which was up for sale, Zoe truly shined by taking part in the cleaning efforts. Bringing her own duster and dust mop, she embraced the task with enthusiasm, showing how even little helpers can make a big difference in preparing a home for potential buyers. This experience not only helped the family but also gave Zoe a sense of responsibility and pride. One standout memory from the trip was observing the multitude of tiny crabs living near the beach below a local Mexican restaurant where we dined. Watching their busy movements reminded me how nature’s little creatures also have their roles, much like Zoe and her chores. It was a calming and fascinating way to pass the time while we waited for our food. Another highlight was Zoe’s growing independence with 'fridge food' — a term she uses for foods she can eat as we do, without needing to have them mashed or blended. This milestone in feeding therapy is significant because it empowers her to feed herself, promoting independence and confidence in daily activities. We also enjoyed simple pleasures like picking up ice cream (and cheesecake for Zoe, who isn’t a fan of cold treats) and feeding sweet birds with gentle care. Moments like holding a blueberry for a bird named Einstein showed the tenderness in every interaction and the joy found in small acts of kindness. Overall, this trip was a beautiful blend of family bonding, nature appreciation, and personal growth.
