My ADHD Monthly Cleaning Routine 🧼
I feel like I need to let everyone in on my cleaning routine. I’ve been thinking about it for weeks so I’m going to make a whole series about it think 🤭
ADHD Cleaning Routine Series Pt 1: The Monthly Routine
Struggling to keep your house clean without burning out? Same here. As someone with ADHD, I used to try doing everything in one go — and it always ended in frustration, overwhelm, and eventually… giving up.
So I created a monthly cleaning routine that’s ADHD-friendly, stress-free, and actually doable. Here’s how it works:
Each week, I focus on one area of the house — just one. And I break that room down into simple daily tasks that take 15–30 minutes max. No more marathon Sunday resets that leave me drained.
By the end of four weeks, I’ve deep cleaned my whole house — without ever doing a massive all-day clean. If the month has a 5th week (there are four in 2025!), I use it for extras I skip during the month like cleaning filters, washing baseboards, or wiping down window sills.
This method works because:
😴It reduces decision fatigue (no guessing what to clean)
🏃🏼♀️ Keeps momentum going with low-effort wins
💫 Respects your energy and attention span
💪🏼 Builds structure that still feels flexible
This week? It’s kitchen week. Just one space. One task a day. And it’s already feeling lighter around here.
Stay tuned for Part 2 — the full Week 1 breakdown. Let’s hack this ADHD cleaning game together.
