post op laparoscopy

... Read moreWaking up after laparoscopic surgery can be a bit of a blur, but for me, "Day 2 post op laparoscopy" was when reality really started to set in. The immediate post-surgery haze began to lift, and while the worst of the anesthesia was gone, the actual process of recovery began in earnest. I remember lying in my hospital bed, trying to figure out the best way to get comfortable without aggravating the incision sites. The most prominent issue for me was undoubtedly the "pain after laparoscopic surgery." It wasn't just localized pain at the small incisions; there was also a deep, internal ache, and the infamous gas pain. The medical team had warned me about the gas, a side effect of the CO2 used to inflate the abdomen during the procedure, but experiencing it firsthand was something else. It manifested as sharp, radiating pain in my shoulders and upper back, which was incredibly counterintuitive when your abdomen is the primary site of the operation! Managing this pain became my primary focus. The nurses were fantastic, providing pain medication on a schedule, but I also found little tricks that helped. Gentle movement, even just wiggling my toes and slowly shifting my position in the hospital bed, seemed to help move the gas around. I also tried to walk a few steps with assistance, as advised, which felt like a monumental effort but surprisingly offered some relief. Hydration was key too – sipping water and warm tea helped. It's truly a full-body experience, and every little bit helps in the healing process. Beyond the physical discomfort, there was also an emotional aspect to "Day 2 post op laparoscopy." You're still quite vulnerable, relying on others for basic needs, and it can be frustrating not to feel like yourself. I tried to focus on small victories: being able to sit up a little longer, eating a bit more solid food, or even just having a good conversation with a nurse. These moments helped me feel more in control and optimistic about the recovery ahead. It’s hard to predict exactly how you’ll feel, but knowing what to potentially expect, like the different types of pain and the importance of gentle movement, can make a huge difference in mental preparedness. For anyone else undergoing this "surgery," my biggest advice is to listen to your body, don't be afraid to ask for help, and be patient with yourself. Recovery isn't a race. It's a gradual process, and each day brings a small step forward. Stay on top of your pain medication, try to move gently as soon as you're able (even if it's just in bed), and remember that the discomfort is temporary. You'll get through it, one day at a time, and soon the hospital bed will be a distant memory.

Laparoscopy post op
After 3 years of no diagnosis, chronic pain, and so many tests, I finally got diagnosed with endometriosis today through a laparoscopy. Endometriosis has taken my life away from me since I was 13, and I have never cried so hard when I was told right after anesthesia that they found it. I was told I
