📍潮八八现切鸡煲 Chao BaBa Freshly Cut Chicken Pot ( multiple outlets islandwide )
they specialise in fresh-cut Teochew chicken hotpot, where the chicken is only cut after you place your order ~ but the REAL star for me was the soup 🤤
the broth is boiled with fresh figs, which gives it a natural sweetness and omg it was sooo good 😭 light, sweet and super flavourful at the same time
we ordered both the free-range chicken and organic pineapple chicken. the texture of the two was slightly different, but both were really tender!!
the soup gets better the longer it cooks too, after absorbing all the flavour from the chicken, it becomes even more fragrant and delicious!!
i usually don’t eat much rice when having hotpot, but this soup was so good that i kept pouring it over my rice 😭

Made by boiling fresh figs, the soup achieves a delicate sweetness that balances beautifully with the savory chicken flavors. From my experience, the longer you let the hotpot simmer, the richer and more aromatic the broth becomes—a perfect reason to take your time enjoying the meal.
The choice between free-range and organic pineapple chicken adds variety; I found the texture difference subtle but interesting, both options being tender and juicy. One tip I’d share: this broth is so delicious that it deserves more than just a few sips—you’ll find yourself pouring it over rice, as I did, to absorb every drop of that sweet-savory goodness.
For those who love authentic Teochew flavors with a twist, Chao BaBa’s use of fresh ingredients and attention to detail make it a must-visit. Plus, their multiple islandwide outlets make it accessible if you are near Beauty World or other parts of Singapore. Don’t miss trying their house signature sauces, like the bean paste and shacha sauce, to complement your hotpot experience further.
