at 38 weeks, I checked in with my pelvic floor physio therapist - not because anything is wrong, but because prepping for birth and recovery matters just as much as focusing on healing afterward.
my pelvic floor is strong, but right now, the focus is on learning to relax it so i don’t push against tension and risk injury. we also talked about how things like constipation and digestion impact pelvic floor pressure (something I hadn’t thought about).
after birth, the main advice:
🍼 don’t lift anything heavier than the baby
🧍♀️ avoid bending + squatting + stairs early on
🛌 rest in positions that take pressure off the pelvic floor (she gave me a few to try)
if you’re pregnant, consider booking a physio session before birth, not just after 💛 a PT is an amazing person to have on your team!
If you're in #LethbridgeAB #YQL I highly recommend the team at VP Health 👏🏻
