♻️ Series 2: EP7 🍰 Why does the normal sugar effect, but doctors still say diabetes risk?
Many people get medical results and are relieved to see that the FBS is normal.
Instead, doctors say HbA1c is higher than normal or at risk of pre-diabetes.
In fact, both values reflect different periods of information.
🩸 FBS (Fasting Blood Sugar) is blood sugar after at least eight hours of abstinence, so it says "on the day of examination."
📈 HbA1c is the average blood glucose back about 2-3 months.
So it's possible
Morning check, regular sugar.
But in daily life, eating sweet often, drinking sugary drinks, or uneven diet,
This resulted in higher-than-expected HbA1c.
Therefore, diabetes risk assessments should not look at FBS or HbA1c alone, but should be considered together, including symptoms, health history, and other risk factors.
If the test results are abnormal, consult your doctor to receive appropriate instructions.
