I’m Not Lazy. I’m Overloaded.

Some people see you answering messages.

Showing up to work.

Getting things done.

What they don’t see:

The constant thinking.

The unfinished conversations.

The decisions.

The worries.

The 47 tabs still open in your head.

Sometimes exhaustion isn’t physical.

It’s mental.

If this hit a little too close to home, you’re not the only one.

... Read moreLiving with mental exhaustion can feel like carrying a hidden weight that others can’t see. Your mind is constantly running, juggling reminders, meetings, reports, calls, and an endless stream of thoughts, much like having 47 tabs open in a browser—and all demanding attention simultaneously. From my personal experience, mental overload is more than just feeling tired; it’s a struggle to maintain focus, to complete tasks, and to engage socially. Even when you appear productive on the outside, inside your brain may be battling waves of overthinking and stress. This often results in burnout, where motivation dwindles, and the ability to function feels compromised. One key strategy I found helpful is prioritizing mental health through intentional breaks and mindfulness practices. Snapping out of the 'sleep is for the weak' mentality, I've learned that adequate rest deeply influences mental clarity and emotional resilience. It’s crucial to recognize the signs early: the invisible and unfinished conversations in your mind, the lurking worries, and the perpetual decision fatigue. Journaling helps me unload scattered thoughts, converting those '47 tabs' into manageable tasks. Setting boundaries between work and personal life also protects against constant mental strain. Remember, showing up and getting things done doesn't always mean you are not struggling; it just means you are facing the fight silently. If you resonate with this, know you’re not alone. Seeking support, practicing self-compassion, and sharing these mental battles openly can reduce stigma and build community around mental wellness. Embrace the reality that exhaustion can be mental and work actively to recharge your inner battery.
