Depressive Thoughts

Being neurodivergent (I am autistic and I have Tourette’s as well as ADHD) the only thing in life that has ever brought me any happiness and comfort (besides my cats) has been writing. I work extremely hard at it so to have only sold a little over 40 books is extremely disheartening for me. Being a writer has always been my dream. Maybe those who have said I will go nowhere with my writing were right. Sometimes I just feel like giving up, but then I hear my mom’s voice telling me to keep going so I do. I post my books everywhere. I advertise them so much I swear people are going to get tired of seeing them, but I do it cause I want my books out in the world so people can enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them. I currently have three books available on Amazon right now so if you or anyone you know is interested in fantasy, romance, werewolves and k-pop please head on over to Amazon and grab yourself a copy of one or all three of my books. It would greatly be appreciated.

... Read moreAs someone who shares a passion for writing, I truly resonate with the emotional highs and lows described here. Writing can be both a refuge and a relentless challenge, especially when external success feels limited despite pouring one's heart into the craft. For many neurodivergent creators, the journey includes not only the creative process but also navigating hurdles like self-doubt and societal misconceptions. One strategy I’ve personally found helpful is building a supportive community—online or local—where fellow authors and readers encourage each other. This can be especially empowering when traditional metrics like book sales don’t immediately reflect your hard work. Another approach is setting small, achievable goals beyond sales, like completing a chapter each week or engaging with readers through social media or book clubs. Incorporating genres like fantasy, romance, and unique elements such as werewolves and K-pop blends your individual voice with popular themes that resonate with diverse audiences. This niche can create dedicated fans who appreciate the fresh perspectives you offer. Advertising extensively shows your commitment, but balancing promotion with genuine interactions can also help readers connect with your story and work on a personal level. Sharing your experiences openly, like the emotional impact of your mother’s encouragement, builds authenticity that many readers find inspiring. Keep in mind that success in writing often develops gradually. Many beloved authors faced initial setbacks before their work gained recognition. Continuing to create, share, and engage with your audience will open new opportunities, while your unique neurodivergent perspective enriches the literary world.
