Pourquoi on utilise Dieu pour faire taire les femmes ?
From my experience and observations, many women find themselves dismissed or silenced under the pretext of religious teachings. This often happens when they try to express their feelings or concerns, especially in contexts where their roles and behaviors are strictly defined by religious interpretations. For instance, societal expectations may dictate that women remain patient and submissive, even in situations where they suffer neglect or disrespect by their partners. What is particularly troubling is how notions of divine will or commands are sometimes used to justify this silence and endurance. Women are told to be patient, not to question their circumstances, and are led to believe that suffering is part of their spiritual duty. This creates a harmful cycle where abuse and inequality are normalized under religious guise. From conversations and support groups I've been part of, many women struggle internally with this conflict between their faith and their desire for autonomy and respect. Moreover, this societal pattern often discourages women from seeking help or asserting their rights, fearing backlash from their communities or believers who hold rigid interpretations of religious texts. Some women even internalize the message that their independence or speaking up is selfish or irreligious. However, these narratives are increasingly being challenged by many who argue for interpretations of religion that promote dignity, justice, and equality for all genders. In my view, it's crucial to differentiate between spiritual beliefs and the ways they are misused to control or silence. Encouraging open dialogue about these issues and promoting interpretations of faith that empower rather than oppress can be a path forward. Women sharing their stories and supporting each other is vital in breaking these chains of silence. Ultimately, respecting women's voices and experiences is a step towards a more compassionate and just society, where religious faith uplifts rather than restricts personal freedom and expression.
