Leg day is often one of the most intense and rewarding workout sessions, especially when you target specific muscle groups like the outer thigh. In my experience, using a close stance on the leg press machine allows for heightened focus on those outer leg muscles, which can sometimes be neglected with a wider stance or more generalized leg training. When I do my leg presses, I consciously narrow my foot placement to really engage the lateral muscles of the quadriceps and outer thighs. This approach not only helps in building muscle definition but also improves balance and stability. It's important to maintain proper form to avoid unnecessary strain on the knees—keep your back pressed firmly against the seat and control the movement through both the press and the return. Besides the leg press, incorporating exercises such as side lunges and cable hip abductions can further strengthen the outer legs, contributing to better overall leg power. Remember to start with a warm-up to increase blood flow and reduce injury risk. Leg day doesn't have to be just heavy lifting—it can be a mix of targeted movements that improve muscle balance. Pairing this close stance leg press technique with flexibility work and adequate rest helps in faster recovery and better performance in subsequent sessions. Personally, I've found that tracking my stance variations and noting which feels most effective allows me to progress steadily and avoid plateaus. If you're looking to enhance your leg workouts, give the close stance leg press a try and share your results!
