Do they really think they can control everything?
I’d been stuck in a terrible work environment for months. I kept telling myself to just hang on till I find a new job. Lucky me, the day before, I have accepted a new offer, set to start in weeks. Then my boss pulled me into her office saying I wasn’t putting my heart into work and didn’t fit the company culture. She then dropped that they were letting me go. I just went “Okay, I already got a new job, start in 2 weeks anyway.” Her face is priceless.
Then she had the nerve to ask “So you weren’t gonna give us 2 weeks’ notice?!” I burst out laughing. I looked at her like “Excuse me, did YOU give ME two weeks’ notice you were firing me?!” She acted like I was in the wrong, when she dumped me without heads up.
I feel like bosses love to act like they get to set all the rules but when you’ve got a backup. Their double standards hit different. Like they can fire you on the spot but throw a fit if you don’t bend over backward for them.
