I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK!! This has become one of my top 5 reads of the year!
Gwen Jackson is a violinist and had been in the Manhattan Pops for four years. Xander Thorne (Alex Fitzgerald) had been part of the Manhattan Pops for 1 year. Gwen was a fan of Xander Thorne’s band, Xander and the Roses. I loved Gwen and Alex relationship so much! This book made me cry, laugh, and smile!!

After diving headfirst into Julie Soto's 'NOT ANOTHER LOVE SONG,' I absolutely have to gush more about why this book landed firmly in my top reads of the year. Beyond just saying it made me cry, laugh, and smile, let me tell you why it hit all those notes so perfectly. First off, the characters, Gwen Jackson and Xander Thorne (aka Alex Fitzgerald), are just phenomenal. Gwen, our talented violinist in the Manhattan Pops, is so relatable – her dedication to her craft, her quiet strength, and her internal struggles felt incredibly real. Then there's Xander, a rockstar with his band Xander and the Roses, who joins the same orchestra. Their dynamic is pure magic. It's not just a simple romance; it's a slow burn that builds with incredible tension and genuine connection. I loved watching them navigate their professional lives alongside their undeniable chemistry. The way they supported each other, challenged each other, and ultimately fell for each other felt earned and authentic. The musical backdrop of the story is another huge win for me. As someone who appreciates music, having a violinist and a band member as main characters added such a rich layer to the narrative. The descriptions of orchestra life, the passion for performing, and how music weaves into their personal lives truly enhanced the overall experience. You can almost hear the melodies as you read, which makes their romance even more harmonious. The detail of the cello on the cover, both the grayscale illustration and the colorful version, really captures this core element of Gwen's character and the story's heart. What I found particularly practical and engaging about 'NOT ANOTHER LOVE SONG' is how Julie Soto tackles themes of passion, vulnerability, and finding your rhythm, both personally and professionally. It’s a stellar example of a workplace romance done right, avoiding clichés and instead giving us depth and heart. For anyone who enjoys contemporary romance with substance, especially those who appreciate a good enemies-to-lovers or workplace trope with a musical twist, this book is an absolute gem. And can we talk about the cover for a moment? It’s so striking! Seeing the grayscale illustration of a man embracing a woman who’s holding a cello on the e-reader, and then the vibrant physical copy with an endorsement from Ali Hazelwood – it really sets the tone for the story. The cover perfectly encapsulates the blend of music and romance you'll find within these pages. It’s gorgeous and definitely one that would catch my eye on any shelf, signaling the beautiful, emotional journey awaiting inside. This book is more than just 'another love song'; it's an anthem for love, passion, and finding your true harmony.
