The “NYC Green Anniversary”
NYC’S GREEN MILESTONE: 5 Years of Magic & 600 Shops Later
Can you believe it’s been 5 years since New York officially went green? Today is a huge mood as the Empire State celebrates the anniversary of the MRTA!
I’m obsessed with how much the city has changed since 2021. We just hit a major milestone: the 600th licensed dispensary officially opened its doors! (Shoutout to Pure Blossoms on the Upper West Side for taking the historic #600 spot! )
The 2026 Recap:
$3.3 Billion: Total retail sales since the launch (NYC’s economy is thriving!).
Equity-First: Over 50% of licenses are held by social & economic equity entrepreneurs. We love to see an industry that actually gives back.
610+ Shops: From chic boutiques in Manhattan to local gems in Brooklyn, the legal market is finally here to stay.
New York’s cannabis journey hasn’t always been a straight line, but seeing 600 shops open while prioritizing community reinvestment feels like a massive win for the city. Here’s to 5 more years of growth, safety, and iconic NYC vibes!
