Before starting this process of creating light up Bakugou’s gauntlets (World hero mission stealth suits) with @Leaf I never thought I would’ve had so much fun with electrical wiring. Through many days of working, several failed attempts, a few melted soldering tips, and some frustration, we managed to persist and create something truly beautiful.
My favorite part of the entire process was the pattern making, but honestly I love seeing it come together. It has taken a lot of time, and we still aren’t finished. We’re working on the final stages, filling some seams, sanding, and overall perfecting the piece. Then we can move on to sealant and finally paint.
We’re really learning to take things slow and enjoy the ride. This is the first prop we have ever made, so it’s been a wild journey of learning. I’m excited to see what else I can create.

The process begins with designing patterns that capture the character's iconic look while ensuring the piece fits comfortably. Pattern making is essential as it forms the blueprint for cutting and assembling materials like thermoplastics or EVA foam.
One of the most complex steps in prop-making with light-up features is wiring the electronics. It requires patience and accuracy, as demonstrated by the author's experience with soldering and troubleshooting melted tips. Electrical wiring not only adds functionality but also elevates the authenticity of the cosplay, creating an immersive visual effect.
Finishing the prop involves filling gaps, sanding rough edges, and applying sealants to prepare the surface for painting. Using sealants like Plasti Dip or gesso can enhance paint adhesion and durability, which is crucial for long-lasting cosplay gear.
Cosplayers are encouraged to take their time during each phase, as rushing may compromise quality. Learning from initial challenges builds skills for future projects and fosters appreciation of the craft. Additionally, joining cosplay forums like #cosmaking and #propmaking can provide valuable advice and community support.
Overall, the journey from concept to completion of Bakugou’s gauntlets exemplifies how perseverance, experimentation, and passion combine to realize a cosplay vision. This process not only sharpens prop-making expertise but also deepens engagement with cosplay culture, inspiring creators to continue evolving their skills and creativity.
