Big things on the board coming up in the next few months!
Coming up first is the United Airlines Half Marathon this Sunday in NYC. From Prospect Park to Central Park passing through the Brooklyn Bridge and Time Square. They only close Time Square 2x a year (NYE and United Airlines HM). Have the goal in mind to get a PR this time around. @New York Road Runners @United Airlines
Also trying to get more involved in front of the camera live than just silent videos behind with music. Getting more comfortable speaking about myself to everyone no matter where I am is also fun too coming from wanting peace and quiet while filming.
Participating in a major race like the United Airlines Half Marathon in NYC is truly exhilarating, especially when the course covers iconic landmarks such as the Brooklyn Bridge, Times Square, Prospect Park, and Central Park. From my own experience, running through these areas brings an incredible energy boost that helps maintain motivation throughout the race. Times Square is closed to traffic for this event only twice a year—once on New Year's Eve and once for this half marathon—which makes crossing it during the race a unique highlight worth savoring. When preparing for a half marathon, focusing on setting a realistic personal record (PR) is essential. I found that tailoring training runs to simulate race pace and terrain conditions along the route enhanced my performance on race day. Additionally, incorporating rest and recovery days prevented burnout and kept me energized. Another aspect I've discovered through this journey is the importance of engaging with your community and sharing your progress. Moving beyond silent behind-the-scenes footage to speaking openly about your experiences—whether live or in videos—helps create connections and holds you accountable. Although I initially sought quiet while filming, embracing vulnerability and confidence in front of the camera has made my running story more meaningful both to myself and my audience. If you're setting your sights on the NYC Half Marathon or similar events, I'd encourage you to cherish the small victories along the way and immerse yourself in the iconic race atmosphere unique to this city. Remember—the right mindset combined with thoughtful preparation will turn your race day into an unforgettable milestone in your running journey.
